Computing Resources
The Department of Economics has seen tremendous growth in its computing resources over the past several years. Economics students have all the technical resources of central Information Services (I/S) at MIT as well as their own in-house systems group (Econ-Systems).
Public Athena Clusters
Public Athena Clusters are located all over campus.
The Economics Department Computer Cluster
The Economics lab are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Only economics students are allowed access to the PCs in these labs. You must request an account with econ-systems before you will be able to use these machines. Only graduate students have access to the PCs in this lab. The lab consists of two parts: the Athena machines and the PCs. Below is a more specific listing of what is available within the department.

On the Unix side, the labs provide: 10 Athena workstations. Batch processing is accomplished through the use of a Sun Enterprise 450 workgroup server as well as a several Linux servers.
